Overview and Tour Video

The Marianist Cemetery was established in 1854 during the cholera epidemic. The cemetery put in place through the efforts of Father Leo Meyer, the university's first president, and the Marianist brothers. When the Marianists acquired the property, they made a promise to watch over the grave of little Mary Louisa, the infant daughter of the Stewart family who died during the epidemic. This sacred site serves as a testament to the dedication of the Marianist brothers and their commitment to Father Chaminade's mission. Discover the unique story of Mary Louisa, the only female buried in the cemetery, and the evolution of the cemetery over the years.
