A pop-up blocker is a software product which some people have opted to add to their computer which stops the annoying advertising pop-ups which constantly bother users. If you have added this to your software it will not allow many of the functions and applications of WebCT to function properly. Applications such as quizzes, chats, and threaded discussions launch in a separate window, and will not function with this software loaded on your computer. Because there are literally thousands of Pop-up blockers, we can not tell you how to disable yours, however, it should be relatively simple.
Launch the pop-up blocker, and you will most likely see a place to enable it or disable it.
To disable pop-up killers or ad-blockers:
Search your hard drive for any software with "pop-up" in the name and disable it. Examples of popular pop-up killer applications include:
- Pop-Up Stopper
- Pop-Up Defender
- Pop-Up Zapper
Most popular pop-up stoppers are:
- Yahoo
- Earthlink
Pop-up killing, or ad-blocking, functions are included in some anti-virus, internet security, personal firewall, and browser programs. Disable the relevant setting in the program.
