Sometimes, with a video or picture file, WebCT will not open the file correctly on a web page. This is due to the fact that WebCT requires the HTML code to be exactly the same as the folder structure you created. Which includes the exact case for both the file and the folders containing the picture or video.
Fixing the Problem in WebCT
If you want to fix the problem when the file is already in WebCT:
- Open WebCT and login.
- Navigate to Manage Files.
- Write down the hierarchy of the picture or video including the case of each folder and the file itself.
- Select the check box next to the file that contains the picture or video.
- Chose edit from the drop down box and click Go.
- Go to edit and find on the Internet Explorer menu or press CTRL + F.
- Search for the file name of the video or picture, then change the HTML code before the file name to exactly match the hierarchy of folders that you wrote down before with slashes(//) in between each folder and in between the last folder and the file.
Fixing the Problem in FrontPage
If you have not uploaded the file to WebCT, or would like to fix the web page on your computer:
- Open WebCT and login.
- Navigate to Manage Files.
- Write down the hierarchy of the picture or video including the case of each folder and the file itself.
- Open the web page in FrontPage and double click on the video or picture.
- If it is a picture, click on the general tab and change the picture source to be exactly what you wrote down for the hierarchy. If it is a video, change the data source to be exactly what you wrote down for the hierarchy.
