Publishing to Respondus

After creating the questions, save the files in rich text format (.rtf) or plain text (.txt) in your computer.

Saving files in the rich or plain text format:

  • Open Respondus and click on Import Questions. Choose Rich Text in “Standard Format” if you chose .rtf, or Text File in “Standard Format” if you chose .txt, in the drop down box.
  • For File name, browse and find your document, type in the name of your new Respondus file in the text box below, and select Create a new document name.
  • Click Preview, and the questions you created in the document will appear below in order.
  • Finally click Finished.

Publishing files to Respondus

Once you have your questions created and saved in the correct format, they are ready to be published to the WebCT server. You also need to be connected to the internet to perform this function:

  • Open Respondus (to do this, you will have to have it downloaded to your computer).
  • Click on the Preview & Publish tab, which will appear on the left side.
  • Click the down arrow under WebCT and select “add new server” for the first time.
  • It will ask you for the WebCT server URL= webct.udayton.edu, What would you like to call the WebCT server= UD WebCT server (this does not really matter).
  • Enter your LDAP user name and password (Novell info)
  • The Server port =80
  • Secure server= No
  • Click OK
  • Click the "down arrow" under Course, and select the desired course that you would like to upload your questions to.
  • Choose the category you would like to assign the questions to.
  • Select the Action to perform.
  • Click Publish.

The questions are now uploaded to the WebCT server.
